Terms of Service
Welcome to Bogey Buddies. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
Who can use it
You must be 18 or older and able to agree to these terms. One account per person, with accurate information about yourself.
What Bogey Buddies is (and isn't)
Bogey Buddies is a tool for golfers to find each other and fill open spots. We don't run golf courses, book or sell tee times, or handle green fees. Booking links take you to the course or its booking provider, and their terms apply there. Course details come from third-party data and may not always be accurate. Check with the course.
Play nice
You agree not to:
- Harass, threaten, discriminate against, or demean anyone.
- Post false, misleading, sexual, or illegal content, or impersonate anyone.
- Use the app for dating solicitation, spam, sales pitches, or scraping.
- Post spots you don't intend to honor, or repeatedly no-show.
- Try to break, overload, or get around the app's security.
We can remove content and suspend or close accounts that break these rules, at our discretion.
Meeting other golfers
Bogey Buddies only helps golfers find each other. We aren't part of any round, meetup, ride, or conversation between golfers, and we don't supervise them. You are solely responsible for your own interactions, safety, and decisions, both in the app and in person.
- We don't screen users. We don't run criminal background checks, identity checks, or sex-offender searches, and we don't confirm what people say about themselves (name, age, handicap, or anything else).
- Meet in public, at the course. Meet only at the golf course or another public place, get there on your own, tell someone where you're playing, and don't share your home address or financial information with people you meet in the app.
- Trust your gut. If something feels off, don't go, leave, and report them. You can block anyone, any time.
- Show-up records, ratings, reviews, and badges are informational only. They aren't our endorsement or a promise about anyone's character or behavior.
Our Safety & Community Rules are part of these terms.
Not for emergencies
Bogey Buddies isn't an emergency service and can't send help. If you're in danger, call 911 and tell course staff. Reports in the app are reviewed by people as soon as we can, which may not be right away.
Verified Woman badge and women-only rounds
Any golfer who is a woman can choose to host a women-only round, and only golfers with a Verified Woman badge can see or join one. The host approves every player.
- What the badge means: a person on our team looked at a selfie the member took holding a one-time code, or two Verified Women who played a round with her vouched for her. That's all it means.
- What it doesn't mean: it isn't an identity check, a background check, a check of government ID, or a guarantee of who someone is, how they'll behave, or that they're safe to meet. Reviews are done by people and can be wrong, and someone can try to fool the process.
- We may approve, deny, pause, or remove a badge at our discretion, including right away when someone is reported, and we don't have to explain why.
- Submitting a false selfie, using someone else's photo, or joining a women-only round under false pretenses breaks these terms and gets your account removed.
- Keep using the same safety steps in women-only rounds that you would anywhere else.
Side games and money
Scorecard side games (skins, Nassau, wolf, and others) are for fun and keeping track. Bogey Buddies doesn't hold, transfer, or process any money between players. Any friendly wagers are between you and the people you play with, and it's on you to follow the laws where you play. Handicap strokes in the app are an estimate, not an official USGA handicap calculation. Junk and side bets are a ledger for your own group only. Bogey Bucks Pick'em is a free game for points that have no cash value: there's no entry fee or prize, and points can't be bought, sold, transferred or redeemed.
Golf has risks
Golf involves real risks, including being hit by balls or clubs, cart accidents, heat, lightning, and uneven ground. You take part in any round, and meet anyone, at your own risk, and you are responsible for following course rules and playing safely.
Your content
You own what you post, including shot tracer videos. You give us permission to host and show it in the app so the service works. Shared tracer videos carry a small Bogey Buddies watermark. Don't post anything you don't have the right to share, or video of other people without their OK.
GPS, Auto Track and stats
Yardages, plays-like numbers, hazard distances and auto-tracked shots are estimates from map data and your phone's sensors. They can be wrong. Use your own judgment, follow course rules, and don't rely on them for safety.
Bogey Buddies+ and payments
Bogey Buddies+ is an optional subscription, currently $5.99 a month or $39.99 a year (prices shown at checkout control). Payments are processed by Stripe. Your subscription renews automatically until you cancel, and you can cancel any time. You keep Plus until the end of the period you've paid for. Free trials and invite rewards end on the date shown in the app and never charge you unless you choose to subscribe. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are non-refundable. If something went wrong, message us through Help & support and we'll make it right. We may change prices with notice, and a change takes effect at your next renewal.
Our app
The Bogey Buddies name, logo, design, and software belong to Bogey Buddies and its owner. Please don't copy them or use them without permission.
No warranties
The app is provided "as is." We work hard to keep it running well, but we can't promise it will always be available, error-free, or that every golfer will show up.
Release
To the fullest extent the law allows, you release Bogey Buddies and its owners, team members, reviewers, and service providers from any claims, demands, and damages of any kind, known or unknown, that come from or relate to the conduct of other golfers or anyone you meet through the app, whether online or in person, including injury, illness, property damage, or loss. If you're a California resident, you waive California Civil Code Section 1542, which says: "A general release does not extend to claims that the creditor or releasing party does not know or suspect to exist in his or her favor at the time of executing the release and that, if known by him or her, would have materially affected his or her settlement with the debtor or released party." If you live somewhere else, you waive any similar law where you live.
Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Bogey Buddies and its owners, team members, and service providers aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill. We aren't responsible for the conduct of any golfer or other user, on or off the app, or for anything that happens at a course, on the way to or from one, or at any meetup. Our total liability for all claims about the app is limited to the greater of $50 or what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don't allow some of these limits, so they apply only as far as the law allows. Nothing here limits liability for our own fraud, gross negligence, or willful misconduct where the law doesn't allow it.
Your responsibility
If your use of the app, your content, your breaking these terms, or how you treat other golfers leads to a claim against Bogey Buddies or its owners, team members, or reviewers, you agree to defend them and cover the losses and reasonable costs that result, including reasonable attorneys' fees, to the extent the law allows.
Ending things
You can delete your account any time from your profile. We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these terms.
Disputes
Talk to us first. Before filing any claim, you agree to message us through Help & support with a description of the problem and give us 60 days to try to resolve it.
One-year limit. To the extent the law allows, any claim about the app must be filed within one year after it arises, or it's permanently barred.
Governing law. These terms are governed by California law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts in Orange County, California, unless the law says otherwise, and either of us can use small claims court for claims that qualify.
The rest
If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest stays in effect. If we don't enforce a part right away, we haven't waived it. These terms, along with the Privacy Policy and Safety & Community Rules, are the whole agreement between you and us about the app.
Changes
We may update these terms. If changes are important, we'll let you know in the app. Continuing to use the app means you accept the updated terms.
