Safety & Community Rules
Bogey Buddies is about getting good people on the tee together. These rules keep it that way. They're part of our Terms of Service.
If you're in danger
Call 911 first. Then tell the course staff, and report the golfer in the app so we can act.
Meeting someone new
- Meet at the course. Not at someone's home, and don't share rides with people you just met.
- Tell someone where and when you're playing and who you're playing with.
- Keep chats in the app until you know someone. Never send money, codes, or personal documents to another golfer.
- Look for signals: a GHIN-verified handicap, show-up rating, reviews, and mutual buddies.
- Trust your gut. It's always OK to cancel, leave, or not join. You never owe anyone a round.
- Drink responsibly and never drive a cart or car impaired.
Community rules
- Be respectful. No harassment, threats, hate, or discrimination of any kind.
- Be real. Your own name, photo, and an honest handicap. No fake or duplicate accounts.
- Show up. If you can't make it, cancel in the app as early as you can.
- Golf, not dating or sales. No romantic solicitation, spam, or selling.
- Keep it clean. No sexual, violent, or illegal content, and no video of people without their OK.
- Side bets are friendly and private. The app keeps score; it never holds or moves money. Follow the law where you play, and never pressure anyone to bet.
- Follow course rules, pace of play, and staff instructions. GPS yardages are estimates. Always watch for other groups before you hit.
Block and report
Open someone's profile or your chat with them and tap Report or Block. Blocked golfers can't message you, see your rounds, or join them, and they're never told. Manage your list under Help → Safety & legal → Blocked golfers.
Every report is private and goes straight to the Bogey Buddies team. We review reports quickly and may warn, suspend, or permanently remove anyone who breaks these rules. Serious threats may be shared with law enforcement.
Women-only rounds
Only golfers with a Verified Woman badge can see or join a women-only round, and the host approves every player. If someone in a women-only round isn't who they say they are, open their profile, tap Report, and pick Not a woman. When a Verified Woman reports someone, that person's access is paused immediately while we review it.
The badge means a person on our team checked a live selfie, or two Verified Women who played with her vouched for her. It isn't an ID or background check, so keep using every safety step above.
What we don't do
We don't run background checks or verify identities beyond GHIN and the Verified Woman badge, and we can't guarantee anyone's behavior. Reviews and ratings are other golfers' opinions. Please use your own judgment every time.
Questions
Tap Help in the app (the ? at the top) and choose Talk to a person. We read every message.
